Eligibility: supplemental nutrition assistance program (previously called food stamps), Medicaid, supplemental security income (SSI), federal public housing assistance/section 8 housing, low income, home energy assistance program (LIHEAP), temporary assistance for needy families (TANF), and/or national school lunch program’s free lunch program.  For the first month you will receive caller ID and call waiting for free.  There is no fee to sign up and each month will be $22.90 without taxes.  To be eligible for this rate you have to call.  You cannot get this rate signing up via the internet.

WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that provides nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support and healthy food vouchers to participants of the program.  This program is available to pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to the age of five who meet the income requirements.  WIC has four locations in Davidson County. Appointments are required.

Davidson County Relative Caregiver Program

Promote kinship family stability for children whose birth parents are unable to care for them. Creating a separate support network for children and their relative caregivers outside of the formal system of foster care is the preferred outcome. They provide short-term case management, caregiver support groups, group and individual counseling, children's therapeutic activity groups, information, education, & resource referrals, material assistance, legal assistance, educational workshops, caregiver and youth enrichment activities, whole family enrichment activities, and one-time emergency financial assistance.

The Help Center stores a large supply of clothing, a pantry of canned goods, some furniture and other items, and a quilting room. DCC members keep the center supplied with financial assistance, food, clothing, and other items. We also receive donations from others in the Donelson area who have heard of this good work. In addition to helping people in our own community, we’ve been able to provide aid to tornado and hurricane victims, and send supplies to the poor in the mountains of Appalachia.

Every Tuesday morning, food, clothing, and other services are provided.

Emeregency Assistance provides food, personal care items, clothing, household items and short-term financial help with housing and utilities. The program also provides referrals for other needed social services. Target population is low-income and homeless families living in Davidson and surrounding counties and those facing crisis situations. This program serves approximately 10,000 individuals per year and consistently ranks in the top five providers on United Way's "211" information and referral service.

Provides emergency food, clothing, and financial assistance as well as burials and spiritual and medical assistance.

The Ladies of Charity of Nashville is an organization of Catholic Women who volunteer their time and talents in many areas of charitable work in the local community.

The Welfare Office distributes clothing, food, payments for utilities, rent, prescription medicines and funeral expenses to needy people in Nashville. It receives funds from the United Way and helps people referred by the Department of Human Services and the Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement program. The Ladies of Charity serves nearly 10,000 women, children and men each year.

The Thrift Shop was opened in 1948 in order to help fund the Welfare Office budget. Over the years, it has grown into a large operation and has served as a model for the many consignment sales that are now operated by many organizations as a way to raise money. The Thrift Shop, which has become a Nashville institution, opens twice a year in the spring and fall. Clothing is accepted on consignment by invitation only and all items must meet high standards. The Thrift Shop is shopper friendly, featuring a wide selection of good quality, fashionable clothing at reasonable prices for the whole family.
